Simon Fowler -

a modest biography

Simon Fowler is editor of Family History Monthly - Britain's fastest growing genealogical magazine. Look out for it at W.H. Smith and other fine newsagents. Before he turned to journalism, Simon was an archivist at the Public Record Office, the Royal Star and Garter Home and the Society of Genealogists.

Simon Fowler is also a long established writer on family and local history. Over the years articles have appeared in Local History Magazine, Family Tree Magazine, History Today. BBC History Magazine and several academic journals.

In his time Simon has been secretary of Labour Heritage, the Labour Oral History Project and the Friendly Societies Research Group. At present he is involved with the London Archive Users Forum, and the Brewery and Pub History societies. He is also undertaking a PhD at University College London on 'Charities and the First World War.'
